Superstitious

3天內日、韓、台均有藝人逝世，而且恰巧都是享年36歲。坊間流傳「逢九必衰」的迷信（superstitious）說法，認為人活到年齡是9的倍數或尾數是9的那年，運勢特別差，容易遇劫，需要謹慎行事和注意健康。事實上人生閱歷和健康都是累積得來的。

形容詞superstitious解「迷信的」，描述人相信並非基於理性或科學的知識，而是相信與牛鬼蛇神、魔法等相關的古老觀念。常用句式to be superstitious about something/ doing something，指「對某事物／做某事心存迷信」。例句︰My grandmother is superstitious about many things that I don't buy into at all.（我的祖母對很多事情都很迷信，但我根本完全不相信。）He is superstitious about saying the word "ghost" and avoid it as much as possible.（他對於說「鬼」一字心存迷信，並盡可能避免提及。）

Superstitious的名詞是superstition，指「迷信」。例如，I don't believe in the superstition that the number 4 is unlucky.（我不相信數字4帶來衰運的說法。）Many people have some sort of superstitions.（許多人都有某種迷信。）
