Detail

很多工作都會要求員工注重細節（detail-oriented），有些人甚至認為仔細決定成敗。

名詞detail解「細節、詳情」，可以加-s。例如，It's too early to say who was wrong. We don't know the full details of what happened yet.（現在說誰對誰錯還為時過早，我們還不知道所發生的事件的全部細節。）Could you send me details of the competition?（你可以把比賽的詳情發送給我嗎？）

不過，detail有很多慣用語，這些就不用加-s。譬如，in detail（詳盡地）、go into detail（詳細說明）、attention to detail（注重細節）、have an eye for detail（對細節有敏銳的觀察力）。例句︰You have to hire her. She has excellent attention to detail.（你必須僱用她，她非常注重細節。）

Detail一字也可以用作動詞，指「詳細描述」。Detail是及物動詞（transitive verb），需要後接受詞（object）寫明詳細描述甚麼。例句︰This tourist guidebook details all the great restaurants the locals recommend.（這本旅遊指南詳細介紹了當地人推薦的所有一流餐廳。）
