Torture

迪士尼樂園的「小小世界」是非常受歡迎的設施，但早前美國迪士尼樂園有小船在航道中被卡住了，遊客不停重複又重複地聽了個多小時的《世界真細小》，不禁說是「torture」。

名詞torture解「酷刑、折磨、痛苦經歷」。上文提到被困「小小世界」，遊客描述為「torture」，是誇張的說法。真正的torture，例如有︰Many victims died after torture and starvation.（許多受害者死於酷刑和飢餓。）

Everyone else knows they should split, but they continue to torture themselves and stay in the relationship.（其他人都知道他們應該分手，但他們繼續折磨自己並留在這段關係中。）

Torture也可以用作動詞，都是解「折磨、虐待、拷打、拷問」。例句︰She was accused of watching and doing nothing while her husband tortured their son to death.（她被控袖手旁觀，看着丈夫將兒子折磨致死。）

Stop torturing yourself about your weight and just live life.（停止為了體重而折磨自己，要好好享受生活。）
