Doxxing

公眾對保護私隱的意識提高了，但同時「起底」（doxxing）、「人肉搜尋」的行為卻愈來愈盛行。

「起底」指查出某人的個人資料或相片等私隱資料，然後在未經當事人的同意下，擅自在互聯網發布有關資料，用作「網絡公審」，傷害他人。英文稱「起底」為dox，是新詞。Dox一字源自docs，是documents（文件）的簡寫。

Dox用作動詞，可以用句式dox somebody/ something，點出翻查誰人的資料或者翻查甚麼資料。例句︰Many people can be doxxed easily on the internet.（在互聯網，許多人可以輕易被「起底」。）You should not threaten to dox his personal information.（你不應該威脅將他的個人資料「起底」。）

Dox的現在分詞（present participle）doxxing，可以用作名詞，指「起底行為」。例如，The government tried to pass amendments to the Protection from Harassment Act to forbid doxxing.（政府試圖通過修訂《保障免受騷擾法案》，以禁止「起底」。）An injunction order was granted to restrain the doxxing of police officers or their families.（政府頒布了禁制令，以限制將警察或其家人「起底」。）
