Gifting

下星期便是中秋佳節，如果大家都想着送禮（gifts）必送月餅，容易造成浪費。有環保團體調查發現，港人去年吃剩超過460萬個月餅！其實中秋送禮，送水果茶品也非常貼心。

Gift一字可以用作名詞或動詞。Gift用作名詞時，解「禮物、贈品」，例如，a festive gift（節日禮物）、a birthday gift（生日禮物）、an anniversary gift（周年紀念禮物）、a wedding gift（結婚禮物）、a complimentary gift（免費贈品）等。Gift也可以解作「天賦」，後接介詞for說明是甚麼才能。例句︰He has a gift for martial art.（他有武術天賦。）

Gift用作動詞時，解「贈送」，可以用句式gift somebody something或者gift something to somebody。例句︰He gifted the museum this entire art collection.（他把整個藝術收藏送給了博物館。）This entire art collection was gifted to the museum.（整個藝術收藏品都是贈送給博物館的。）

Gift加上-ing用作動名詞，則解作「送禮的行為」。例如，The number one rule to master the art of gifting is to understand the recipient's preferences.（送禮藝術的第一條規則，是了解接受者的喜好。）
