Large scale

疫情重擊航空業，國泰終於宣布落實削減約8,500個職位，共裁5,300駐港員工，成為香港歷年來最大規模的裁員（the largest scale layoffs）。

名詞scale可以解「規模、程度」。例如，Do we know the scale of the damage yet?（我們知道破壞的程度了嗎？）

Scale可以用large（大的）、huge（巨大的）、small（小的）、national（全國的）、global（全球的）、full（全部的）等形容。例句︰Since the scale of this case is very small, we do not expect any negative impact on the overall business performance.（由於這事件的規模很小，因此我們預計不會對整體業務表現產生負面影響。）The virus has rapidly expanded to a global scale.（該病毒已迅速擴展至全球。）

如果沒有形容大小，單用scale一字則指大規模。例如，Because of the scale of the problem, we must inform the headquarter immediately.（由於問題嚴重，我們必須立即通知總部。）We have set up a special taskforce to handle this project due to the scale of the work and complications involved.（鑑於該項目的規模和涉及的複雜性，我們已經成立了特別工作小組來處理。）
