Resume

隨着新冠肺炎疫情回落，公務員今日逐步回到辦公室工作，中五及中四學生亦可望於本月復課（resume classes）。希望整個社會盡快可以回復正常，大家都很懷念不用戴口罩的日子。

看動詞resume的字首re-，就知道它有「重新、再次」的意思。Resume指在停止或被打擾後，「繼續、重新開始」做某事。Resume可以後接名詞或動名詞。例句︰Many companies hope they can resume full operations soon.（許多公司希望他們能夠盡快恢復全面運作。）The football team plans to resume training in June.（足球隊計劃在6月恢復訓練。）

Resume亦可以用於指「重返」某地或某位置。例如，I can't believe she can resume her job this quickly.（我不敢相信她可以這麼快地恢復工作。）Please resume your seats in an orderly manner.（請有秩序地返回座位。）

Resume用作名詞，則有不一樣的意思，解「履歷、簡歷」。例如，There is no use sending your resume to companies during the lockdown.（你在封城期間寄履歷給公司是沒有用的。）
