Provocative

每次特首會見傳媒，理應是紓緩民情的好機會。可惜，特首錄音式的言論和對示威者的不斷譴責，只是火上加油；斷然拒絕成立獨立調查委員會，更是挑釁（provocative）行為。

形容詞provocative解「挑釁的、煽動的」，即是故意使人生氣的，用於形容言論或者行為均可。例句︰Such provocative remarks will only strengthen our resolve to fight for the five demands.（這種挑釁性的言論只會加強我們爭取五大訴求的決心。）Provocative acts of the protestors are becoming more frequent.（示威者的挑釁行為正變得愈來愈頻繁。）

Provocative除了指令人生氣的，可以指令人性興奮，解「挑逗性的、撩人的」，常用於形容行為、畫面或者衣着。例句︰This website has been heavily criticised for posting provocative images of young girls.（該網站因發布年輕女孩的挑逗性圖像而受到嚴厲批評。）Men's clothing, no matter how revealing, is rarely described as sexually provocative.（男性的衣服無論多麼暴露，都很少被描述為挑逗性的。）
