Prime concern

醫護人手長期不足，除了前綫的壓力愈來愈大，也恐怕醫護人員會忙中有錯，病人的安全成為主要關注（the prime concern）。香港急需制定長短期的解決措施。

形容詞prime有三個意思。在the prime concern中，prime指「首要的、主要的、最重要的」。例句︰While patient safety is the prime concern, patient comfort is also extremely important.（雖然病人安全是首要考慮因素，但病人的舒適度也非常重要。）This building is a prime example of contemporary architecture.（這座大廈是當代建築的典範。）又例如Prime Minister（首相）是國家的政府領導人，所以用prime一字形容。

Prime還可以解「一流的、最好的」。例句︰This spacious apartment is in a prime location in the city.（這個寬敞的單位位於城市的黃金地段。）We only use prime quality natural ingredients to make this tomato sauce.（我們只使用優質天然成分製作這番茄醬。）

在數學方面，prime numbers解「質素」。質素是正整數，除了本身和一以外並沒有其他因子。
