Wolf down

冬天最愛吃火鍋，每口食物都熱辣辣、暖笠笠。不過，吃火鍋切忌狼吞虎嚥，以免灼傷口腔和喉嚨。

中文用「狼吞虎嚥」來形容人吃東西吃得又猛又急，像狼虎一樣吞咽東西。原來英文也是用狼比喻，可以說to wolf down something。例句︰If you wolf down the food, there isn't enough time for your stomach to signal your brain that you are full.（如果你狼吞虎咽，你的胃便沒有足夠時間向大腦發出飽足的訊號。）She came back from school starving and wolfed down the whole box of biscuits.（她從學校回來後餓得要死，狼吞虎咽地吃掉了整盒餅乾。）

描述人「食量小，吃得少」，中文可以用「小鳥胃」。英文也類似，會說to eat like a bird，像小鳥一樣，小口小口地啄食物。

例句︰She eats like a bird to keep her weight under 100 pounds.（她為了保持體重在100磅以下，吃得很少。）You don't have to eat like a bird to enjoy a healthy life.（你不必吃得很少，才能享受健康的生活。）
