Internet love scams

縱使警方屢次高調呼籲市民不要墮入網上情緣騙案（internet love scams），我們依然不斷見到此類新聞出現。正所謂「蹺唔怕舊，最緊要受」，騙子與傻瓜從來都是天生一對。

名詞scam解「騙局、詐騙」，是口語，書面語則可以用fraud。常用複合名詞（compound noun）點出詐騙的性質。例如，a credit card scam（信用卡騙局）、an insurance scam（保險騙局）、a mobile phone scam（手機詐騙）、a welfare scam（福利騙局）等等。「網上情緣騙案」，英文可以稱為an internet love scam、an online dating scam、an online romance fraud等。「愛情騙子」，可以稱為a love / romance / dating scammer。

Scam一字也可以用作動詞，常用句式to scam somebody out of something（從某人處騙得某物）。例句︰Fifteen public housing fraudsters managed to scam the government out of two millions this year.（今年有15名公共房屋欺詐者，設法從政府騙走了200萬。）They used health supplements to scam the elderly out of their savings.（他們用保健品來騙取老人家的積蓄。）
