Scorching heatwave

倫敦的熱浪未完，氣溫經常升至30度。香港更熱，雖然不時有幾陣驟雨，但是氣溫依然高達34、35度。

要形容「非常熱」，最簡單可以說very hot。如果想生動一點、誇張一點，可以說scorching，解「灼熱的」。例如，scorching hot（灼熱的）、scorching temperatures（灼熱的氣溫）、a scorching summer day（炎熱的夏日）、the scorching August sun（灼熱的八月太陽）、scorching sunshine（灼熱的陽光）等等。例句︰It was scorching hot inside the house. We'd rather go out.（在屋裏非常熱，我們寧願外出。）

Scorch本身是動詞，指「把……燒焦、把……烤焦」，即是「因為高溫或者烤燙，使表面變色、燒焦」。譬如︰I forgot to turn off the iron and scorched the dress.（我忘記關掉熨斗，所以燙焦了連身裙。）Milk chocolate is very sensitive to heat and will scorch easily.（牛奶朱古力對熱力非常敏感，很容易燒焦。）The heat of the sun scorched my skin till it almost blistered.（太陽的灼熱燒焦了我的皮膚，直到它幾乎起水泡。）
