Needle

乘客在巴士座位接二連三發現針頭（needles），到底是甚麼人如此離譜？做出這樣損人不利己的事情，實在太變態。

名詞needle解「針、縫衣針」，例如，a needle and thread（針綫）、a darning needle（織補針）、a knitting needle（編織針）、needlework（刺繡）等等。「穿針」的英文是to thread a needle--My eyes are getting too old to thread a needle.（我老花，不能穿針了。）

Needle也可以指「注射針」，to be on the needle即是「注射毒品成癮」。例句︰His sister has been on the needle for years.（他的妹妹已經注射毒品多年。）還有，指南針或測量儀器上的指針亦是稱為needle--the compass needle、the needle on the instrument。

Needle其實可以用作動詞，解「惹惱、激怒」，尤其是指「不斷地批評或質疑」。例如，He needled her too much and she told him not to ask her any more questions tonight.（他惹惱她了，她告訴他今晚不要問她任何問題。）His mother is always needling him about getting married.（他的母親總是要求他結婚。）
