Completely finished

網上流傳以下這段笑話，解釋complete和finished的差別：

"When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE. And when you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED. And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED！"（娶對女人，你就完整了；娶錯女人，你就完蛋了。而當對的那個捉到你與錯的那個一起，你就完全完蛋了！）

這笑話點出了complete和finished並不是完全同義。它們都可以解「完成的、結束的」，例如，My work is nearly complete/finished.（我的工作差不多完成了。）The show is complete/finished.（表演結束。）

不過，complete有「完整的、圓滿的」意思，帶褒義；finished則可以解「完蛋了的」，帶貶義。例句：My life is not complete without you.（沒有你，我的生命並不完整。）If we lose the case, we will be finished.（如果輸掉官司，我們就完蛋了。）
