So typical

同事A今天早上又請了病假，其他同事都見怪不怪，說That's so typical of him。原來同事A經常在星期一和五請病假或看醫生。Typical解「典型、有代表性的」，例如，You look like a typical tourist with the camera around your neck.（你頸上掛着相機，看起來像個典型的遊客。）This poem is typical of her works in the 1920s.（這首詩是她20年代的代表作。）

不過，形容詞typical不一定是中性，有時帶貶義，尤其是形容人的不良品質一向如此、不出所料。語氣大概是說某人總是怎樣，令人惱怒生厭。因此，That's so typical of him。帶貶義，同事不贊同A經常請病假。又例如，It's just typical of Mary to spend all her salary in the first week of the month.（瑪麗就是這種人，月頭第一星期便把薪水花光。）

想形容某人這樣是他的典型行為，可以用句式：It is（adjective）of someone to do something。例句：It's typical of him to be so serious.（他經常都那麼嚴肅。）這句式又常用以描述某人因做了某事而令別人覺得他怎樣，例句：It is generous of you to lend me your new car for a week.（你肯借你的新車給我用一星期，真是大方。）
