Standstill

《施政報告》一開首便創以「政治先行」，指出香港要在落實普選和原地踏步（standstill）之間作抉擇。等同叫香港市民任何政改方案都「袋住先」‥‥‥無奈！

Standstill解「停滯、靜止」，所有活動都停止的狀態。

如何在句子中運用standstill一字，常見的寫法有三種：1、come to a standstill；2、bring something to a standstill；3、at a standstill。留意，standstill只可以用單數。例句：The reform has come to a standstill.（這項改革已經停滯不前。）The storm brought the airport to a standstill.（風暴使機場陷入癱瘓。）The traffic was at a standstill.（交通處於停滯狀態。）

Standstill常配形容詞virtual（幾乎的）、absolute（絕對的）、complete（完全的）等等。例如come to a virtual standstill、bring something to an absolute standstill、at a complete standstill。
