Vested interests

香港地少人多，發展新界勢在必行。丁權是其一要處理的難題。思匯政策研究所公布去年的電話訪問調查，六成受訪者認為要改變丁屋政策，而希望維持此政策的多為有既得利益（vested interests）的新界人。

Vested解「既定的」，vested interests（既得利益）即是指某人或集團獲得法定的某種特別權益。對沒有既得利益的人來說，這特權或不公平，所以vested interests常帶貶義。跟be interested in……（對……感興趣的）一樣，要點出有甚麼vested interests，可以後接介詞in。例句：The villagers have vested interested in disagreeing with the small-house policy review.（他們不同意檢討丁屋政策，因當中有其既得利益。）

常用someone be vested with something指「某人被賦予某種權力或財產等」。例句：Authors are vested with 50 years of copyright.（作者有50年的版權。）He has been vested with the power to deploy people from your department.（他有權調度你部門的人手。）
