Christmas hampers

雖然距離聖誕尚有個多月，但各大品牌和百貨公司已經推出聖誕限量品、聖誕禮物、聖誕禮物籃（Christmas hampers）等等，名目多多。

名詞hamper解「有蓋的大籃子」，例如，英女皇90歲大壽時贈送給民眾的野餐籃，叫picnic hamper。當然，稱為picnic basket也可以。用來盛髒衣物的大籃，可以叫laundry hamper或者clothes hamper。還有一個常用到名詞hamper的東西，就是Christmas hamper，用大籃子盛載食物和飲料，作送禮之用。例句：Looking for a perfect Christmas hamper？（正在尋找完美的聖誕禮籃？）This year I've spotted so many Christmas food hampers that would make lovely presents.（今年我發現了很多聖誕食品禮籃，它們會是非常好的禮物。）

Hamper用作動詞時，意思大相徑庭，解「妨礙、阻礙」，使人不容易做到某件事。例句：Too much TV time can hamper children's intellectual development.（看電視過多可能阻礙兒童的智力發展。）In the past few days, travelling has been hampered by the snowy weather in and around Paris.（在過去幾天，在巴黎及其附近，交通都受到天雪阻礙。）
