Bring to the table

雖然希拉里未能成功當選，無緣成為美國的首位女總統，但是我們依然肯定女性在政治和其他領域上的貢獻不輸男性。

「貢獻」除了用contribute，英文可以說bring something to the table。食物對生命何等重要，將貢獻比喻為放在桌子上的食物，可以表達貢獻的重要和價值。Bring something to the table，即是contribute something useful, beneficial and valuable to a discussion, negotiation, project, etc.（為討論、談判、項目等提供有用、有益和具價值的東西）。

例句：If you don't know what you bring to the table, you won't get a seat there.（如果你不知道你有甚麼貢獻，你不會得到一個席位。）We need to collaborate because we can bring different skills and experience to the table.（我們需要合作，因為我們可以貢獻不同的技能和經驗。）Women bring so much to the table and we are finally celebrating it.（女性貢獻良多，而我們終於歌頌它。）

此外，除了用bring something to the table，可以用bring something to the party。不過，bring something to the table較常用，畢竟在桌子用膳比參加派對多。
