Whisper

小朋友間是非也很多！才開學兩個多星期，同學間已經不時上課咬耳仔。私下甚至開始傳言說這個同學怎樣，那個同學怎樣。

「咬耳仔」英文可用whisper。低聲私語，說悄悄話，常用whisper something in someone's ear和whisper about something。例句：He leaned over and whispered something in her ear.（他湊近，悄悄對她說了些話。）They are whispering about you and Peter.（他們正在竊竊私語，談論你和彼得。）

Whisper亦可以指to suggest something privately or secretly that something might be true，「私下或秘密地暗示某事可能是真的」，常用whisper that。例句：Some colleagues are whispering that the manager is going to retire this year.（一些同事在竊竊私語，說經理會在今年退休。）

Whisper用作名詞，也常後接that。例如：I've heard a whisper that his mother was the former principal.（我聽到傳聞，說他的母親是前校長。）
