Trade tension

在中美貿易戰的戰火下，農民首當其衝。2018年美國對中國的大豆出口急跌98%。農民只好小心儲存起大豆，寄望緊張局勢（tension）得以緩和。

名詞tension可以解「緊張局勢、緊張關係」，常源自互不信任。例如有ethnic/racial tension（種族緊張關係）、political tension（政局緊張）、tension in the office（辦公室裏的緊張氣氛）、tension in a romantic relationship（在情侶關係中的緊張氣氛）等等。

Tension可以配形容詞huge（巨大的）、small（小的）、ongoing（持續的）、unbearable（難以忍受的）、dramatic（戲劇性的）等。例句︰These issues will cause huge tension between the two countries.（這些問題將導致兩國之間的局勢非常緊張。）There is nothing more unbearable than tension in a romantic relationship.（沒有甚麼比在情侶關係中的緊張氣氛更難以忍受了。）

動詞配搭方面，可以用grow/increase（增加）、ease/relieve（緩和）、reduce（減低）等。例句︰Farmers are betting trade tensions will ease and the China market will open up again.（農民打賭貿易緊張局勢會緩和，中國市場將再次開放。）
