國泰航空近日爆出國際大笑話，Facebook飛機群組「香港航空討論區」中內有幾幅圖瘋傳，仔細一看，相中波音777客機的機身上竟然印錯字，由「Cathay Pacific」變成「Cathay Paciic」，漏印一個F字，但就在事件差點演變成醜聞之前，公關馬上出場並完美示範如何化解公關災難。

雖然國泰發現錯漏後已命員工立即用紙皮遮蓋「iic」三隻字，先做應急方法，根據形狀貼上保護紙，噴完油再拿走，稍後會重新印上正確英文字。不過國泰補救速度依然未及網民傳送訊息的速度，大家紛紛嘲笑世界級公司連公司名都印錯。有人取笑這架飛機應該是國泰翻版，就如紙巾品牌Tempo都有「Tenpo」、「Tunbe」、「Taipo」、「Tanpo」等多個版本。

不過，就在事件差點演變成醜聞之前，國泰完美示範如何化解公關災難，首先直接承認有關錯誤，並沒有在事件隨便找藉口，而且在全世界嘲笑之前先自嘲，前日國泰出post表示波音777是期間限定，原文如下：
「【 突發！期間限定 777 機隊外觀 】特別版向來一瞬即逝。因此她正返回基地重新塗裝。再見！Oops this special livery won’t last long! She’s going back to the shop!」
