Dust explosion

浸會大學學生慶生時，樂極生悲，懷疑蠟燭的火種未熄時灑麵粉，引發粉塵爆炸（dust explosion）。猶記得三年前台灣發生嚴重的粉塵爆炸，導致近500人死傷，當中包括有香港人。政府及學校實在需要加強教育。

名詞dust常用作指「灰塵」。例如，All the furniture was covered in dust.（所有的傢俬都被灰塵覆蓋。）Dust還可以指「粉塵」，特定物質組成的粉末。例如浸會粉塵爆炸中的「麵粉塵」，可以稱為flour dust。又例如，chalk dust（粉筆灰塵）、coal dust（煤塵）等等。

Dust可以用作動詞，解「擦去……的灰塵、打掃」。例句︰My mother dusts all the shelves at home every day.（媽媽每天都打掃家裏的所有架子。）I broke the vase when I was dusting the table.（我打掃桌子時，打破了花瓶。）

Dust還可以指「在……上撒（粉末）」。例如，She lightly dusted the powder all over the face.（她輕輕地把碎粉掃在臉上。）Dust the top of the brownie with powdered sugar.（在布朗尼上撒些糖粉。）
