Fashion goes out of fashion. Style never.

「Fashion goes out of fashion. Style never.」（時尚會過時，惟風格長存。）這句名言出自高級時裝品牌Chanel的創辦人Coco Chanel。正如我們常說要追求甚麼樣的生活方式lifestyle，而非趕潮流時尚fashion。

將這句名言繙譯成中文，或多或少會失去原來英文的意趣。根據牛津字典，fashion是「a popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration, or behaviour」（流行或最新的服裝、髮型、裝飾或行為的風格）。Fashion本身就是有時限的style，所以會goes in of fashion（正在流行），又會goes out of fashion（不再流行）。還有the latest fashion（最新時尚），都點出fashion是有時間性的。

「Fashion goes out of fashion. Style never.」中的「Style never。」是elliptical sentence（省略句），省略了「goes out of fashion」。如果這句句子不用省略法，寫成「Fashion goes out of fashion. Style never goes out of fashion.」會很重複累贅，欠簡潔。
